Dalek Guard Figure Review

 Dalek Guard Figure Review

Welcome to my first figure review, this is something that I have always wanted to do. I will be reviewing different figures and giving my own opinions on the figures. This is the first review on the Dalek Guard from The Chase. The Dalek Guard figure is part of the Sound Effects Daleks wave one. The package is the same as the wave one package, cleverly shaped like a Dalek with the small head light and the eye stork.

If you saw The Chase starring William Hartnell you may be thinking "Hang on, I know the story was in black and white. But I don't remember seen this type of Dalek in it". Well that's because it is in fact a Movie Dalek! The films were not made by the BBC, they were from a different company. Some of the Dalek props from the first film where giving to the BBC and the Daleks were overhauled into the TV series model. They were all painted with silver heads for later stories. Never the less this is a fantastic figure! You know when people say more Daleks need to be red, well we should have Daleks that are blue and silver. If I was in charge of Dr Who, I would have Daleks that are red, grey, blue and silver like the Dalek guard. This is one of Character Opinions best figures, they are getting better with the classic Dalek figures. When I herd that this Dalek was going to be a figure, I thought that this was going to be unpopular with kids because I believe that now a days kids only want toys based on characters that they have seen on TV. Well it would be popular with adult collectors and hard core Dalek fans like me, but not with kids. But ever since the figures debut it's very popular with everyone. Despite starting life as a Movie Dalek and then a normal TV series Dalek, this type of Dalek did appear in the Dalek comic strips The Dalek Chronicles. With the release of this Dalek and Dalek Alpha from the 8th Doctor and Dalek set another figure that I will review another time, could this be a sign of Character to make more rare Dalek figures. Heck even go above and beyond and create made up Daleks like Dapol!?

Here is the Dalek Guard with the Original Dalek from the 1963 episode The Daleks. As you can see the Dalek Guard is slightly slimmer than the 63 Dalek. The Dalek Guard is a repaint of the Original Dalek figure, but their differences. The original has light blue hemispheres while the guard has dark blue. The middle base on the body of the guard is gold and the original silver. The head lights on the domes are also different. The original has mini copper lights and the lights of the guard are cup like.

Here is the Dalek Guard with Doctor no'1 William Hartnell even though they never met in the episode. The sizing appears to be correct, the early Daleks were short back then.
Here is what the Dalek Guard with the others Daleks, this isn't all my Daleks just the new comers. The Dalek Guard is on the same level as the Emperors Personal Guard while Dalek Alpha, The invisible Dalek and the 1984 Grey Dalek drone from Resurrection of the Daleks tower other it. These Daleks are the Toys R us exclusives and I got all five on Christmas day except the Guard, it came two days later.
And here is the Dalek Guard with Special Weapons Dalek. The Special Weapons Dalek is another Dalek from wave two, but this is the original figure from the now rare Remembrance of the Daleks set. Overall The Dalek Guard is a fantastic figure, one of Character Options best classic Dalek figures and hopefully we will see the Peter Cushing Movie Daleks if Character can get the rights. But until then this will have to do.

10/10

Dalek Figures

The Daleks are my favourite Dr Who Monster, I have many Dalek figures in my collection. I have decided to bring out all the different Dalek variations and put them all together, some are made by the same company and others come from different factories. The figures are from Character Options, Product Enterprise, Corgi and many others.

Supremes

Black Daleks

The Black Daleks are the first leader Daleks,
they are called the Supreme Daleks. I have put Dalek Sec the leader of the Cult of Skaro separate because I have lots of figures, well of the Black Dalek type. The Blacks and Sec have appeared in 8 and half episodes and 2 of the Dalek movies.

                                                                   Gold Daleks

Not all supreme Daleks were black, some were red or gold. The gold's are known as the chiefs, but they are sometimes called supreme themselves. The 2005 bronze Daleks of today are often mistaken for Gold Daleks, they are not gold they are bronze. The supreme Dalek in Day of the Daleks is a real Gold Dalek.

Dalek Invasion of Earth 2150 AD: 1966 (Film)

 Day of the Daleks: 1972

Frontier in Space: 1973

Red Daleks

The Red Daleks are number 2 in Dalek command, they are also my favourite a long side the gun metal grey Daleks. The reason why the red Daleks are a rare site is because red is an unknown colour on Skaro. They are remembered from the Dalek movie with Peter Cushing. The character Dalek Alpha first appeared in Evil of the Daleks as a Silver Dalek, but some how he escaped became a Dalek leader and evolved into a Red Dalek as seen in the comic stripe. The Children of the Revolution.
